How to follow a Japanese sports team by city
Club names do not always tell you exactly where a team plays. Start with the home prefecture, confirm the league and venue, then use the official schedule before you travel.

GOOD FOR
For readers who know a city or prefecture name but not its club, league or venue structure.
READ FIRST
Start with the prefecture, because a club name and its recorded home city do not always use the same wording.
Teams by prefectureONE CONCRETE EXAMPLE
A Tokyo-named club may be based in a neighbouring city, while a prefecture-wide club may use several venues.

The short answer
Japanese teams may use a prefecture, city, company or regional identity in their name. ZERO's place pages connect the recorded home prefecture to football, baseball, basketball, rugby and volleyball teams, while each team page keeps the league, venue and official links close by.
HOW IT WORKS
Follow the competition without getting lost
1. Choose a prefecture, not a guess from the club name
Some names clearly include Tokyo, Osaka or Hiroshima. Others refer to a company, a broad region or a historic identity. The prefecture directory gives you a stable first filter.
A team can also stage selected games outside its primary home city, so the place page is an introduction rather than a guarantee for every fixture.
2. Learn the league label before reading the table
J1, B1, Division 1 and SV.LEAGUE belong to different sports and cannot be compared as one shared ranking. Open the sport home or team profile to see what the label means in that competition.
For football below J3, use the separate pyramid guide because regional and prefectural structures vary.
3. Verify the match with the official source
ZERO organizes recorded schedules and links back to the club or competition. Time, venue and ticket conditions can change, especially around weather or cup competitions.
Treat the official source as the final check before making travel plans. That confirmation step is part of following a team well, not an inconvenience.
4. Keep your next step within the same sport
Once you have found a team, results, standings and related records are usually more useful than an unrelated sport. ZERO's normal navigation follows that same-sport pattern.
Return to the prefecture view only when your question is specifically about what else is nearby.
